North Queensferry Climate Action Network
The climate crisis means that we will all have to make great changes. Especially by reducing carbon emissions from energy usage. Could we generate power locally? Could we help more people switch to electric vehicles? Could these changes save us money?
We in North Queensferry can do a lot and get help, support and even funding from local and Scottish Government dedicated funds. What could we achieve by a community project? Can we turn North Queensferry into North Greensferry?
NQ Asset Library? - 9th October, 7.30 at the Community Centre
Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recycle - could an Asset Library help North Queensferry be Greener and Friendlier?
Could we reuse the things people already have by creating a library of items folk around the village could borrow? They might range from seldom used items - big tents, gazebos, tall branch loppers, high window cleaning tools through to more frequent - bikes, lawnmowers, jam pans, toys, who knows? Grandparents wanting to borrow stuff for visiting grandchildren. The items might be lent or simply donated.
Could we look to set up a car club or community bike loan scheme?
Reducing the duplication of households each having their own equipment for gardening, events, cycling, home maintenance etc would reduce the amount of carbon created by their manufacture and transport.
More people would be able to access items they only needed occasionally.
How could we create an Asset Library? How would it work? How would we tackle problems areas such as safety, breakages and things going awol? Could you help? Please bring your ideas to the NQ Climate Action Network meeting at 7.30, October 9th at the Community Centre.
