Data Protection, Privacy and Complaints

North Queensferry Community Trust keeps minimal information on our members: Name, Address and Contact Details. For junior members under 16, Date of Birth is also recorded so that we know when they become able to vote at General Meetings.

Who Can See Members' Information

Normally only directors of the Trust who are delegated by the board of Trustees.

In certain circumstances members' information may need to be provided to a government body. For example, when the Trust applied for a community purchase of the Albert Hotel, we were asked to provide the Scottish Government's Community Land Team with a list of names and addresses of members so that they could verify the Trust had as many valid members as we claimed.

Outwith such special cases, members' personal information will never be given out to others.

What is Members' Information Used For?

Members' information is used:

  • To contact members
  • To check that ordinary members satisfy the requirements to be members - living in North Queensferry and eligible to vote in local elections
  • To know which members are junior members

What about Privacy?

Emails will always be sent as bcc to keep members' email addresses private.
